maur: Maur Blast case: Hc requests a file status report | Amritsar News

BATHINDA: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to file a status report in the 2017 Maur blast case.
The orders were passed through HC’s dual bench consisting of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli while hearing the case in virtual mode.
On February 22, 2022, the court allowed a motion for review in the case.
The plaintiffs’ lawyer, Mohinder Singh Joshi, said: “We have informed the court that the incident dates back more than five years, that investigations have not been completed and that no arrests have been made in this case. . As the blast happened just four days before the 2017 parliamentary election, it has yet to be established whether there was a political reason behind it…investigations should be handed over to the NIA or the CBI. Seven people, including five children, died in the blast on January 31, 2017, minutes after Congress candidate Harminder Singh Jassi ended his campaign rally in Maur. Jassi’s daughter is married to Sirsa-based Dera chef Sacha Sauda’s son.
Teams from the NIA and other agencies had gone to the scene. Four people had registered their statement in Talwandi Sabo court, based on which the case was registered against three dera followers, who are on the run.
It was found that the car, in which the explosion took place, was modified at the dera workshop and was parked at the site of the Maur explosion.
