Which character to choose?

The base class of the starting character you should choose Ring of Elden is arguably the prophet if you’re new to the FromSoftware formula.

This is because it is the best healer at the very beginning. The Astrologer is also good because he is the most powerful magic character in the game who can help you kill enemies from afar with ranged attacks. However, it has the lowest amount of HP.

If you prefer melee to magic, we’ll choose either the samurai or the hero. The hero has high HP levels coupled with strong DMGs, but they are quite slow.

Meanwhile, the Samurai is much faster and comes with Firebone Arrows so you can perform ranged attacks as well. If you want both magic and melee, we recommend the Prisoner.

The one you’ll want to avoid picking is the Wretch. It has the worst starting gear and is essentially a hard mode for a game that is already very difficult.
