Google plans to hide the status bar in PWAs (also known as Progressive Web Apps). We all know that tech companies like Google strive to improve and change their features from time to time. Previously, it recently changed one of its features which allowed uninstalling Chrome PWA from settings or control panel which was previously impossible. It’s in the news right now that Google is considering whether or not to hide its status bar in PWAs, but this development is being tested and no decision has been made yet (i.e. say make it the default). When browsing a website in the web browser, a gray destination link appears at the bottom.
The status bar is a horizontal box at the bottom of the screen that indicates what program is running and what website is running before you click on the link. This is the purpose of the status bar and it is very important. The web is an incredible platform. Its ubiquity across devices and operating systems, its user-centric security model, and the fact that neither its specifications nor its implementation are controlled by a single company make the Web a unique platform for the software development. Combined with the inherent linkability, you can search it and share what you find with anyone, anywhere.
