CLEVELAND, AP — Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett was released from a hospital late Monday night after being injured when he flipped his Porsche while driving on a rural road after the coaching.

Garrett suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a car wreck. He had been taken to hospital, along with an unidentified female passenger, after crashing around 3 p.m., about 2 hours after training had ended.

Garrett’s playing status for the upcoming game is unknown. The Browns visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Cleveland players do not practice Tuesday.

His agent, Nicole Lynn, said Garrett didn’t break any bones. Lynn said Garrett was “alert and responsive” while receiving medical attention.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a statement that soldiers arrived at the scene of the accident to find Garrett’s damaged car on the side of the road after it appeared to roll over several times. Garrett was driving on State Road in Sharon Township as he traveled south after leaving team headquarters in Berea, Ohio.

Highway Patrol does not suspect impairment by drugs or alcohol. Both Garrett and his passenger were wearing seat belts in his Porsche 911 Turbo S. The crash is still under investigation.

One of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players, 26-year-old Garrett has 61 1/2 sacks in 71 games. He needs a sack to pass Clay Matthews for the team’s career record.

The Browns drafted Garrett with the first overall pick in 2017.

Harrison Smith reacts to a play in a Minnesota Vikings game.

With a stellar start to the season and Super Bowl aspirations lingering in the background, the Buffalo Bills may not have much time to wallow in the loss of All-Pro safety Micah Hyde following a a season-ending injury.

Hyde suffered a neck injury in the team’s 41-7 win over the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football, which led to him being taken to hospital. Although Hyde was released after being observed, his agent announced on Saturday that he would head to injured reserve and not return until next season.

The injury dented the team’s secondary and could see the Bills look to the trading block to replace Hyde and keep their Super Bowl hopes alive.

Bills could look to Minnesota Vikings for help

The Bills already have their immediate plans to replace Hyde, with fourth-year safety Jaquan Johnson entering the starting lineup. Johnson is highly regarded by the team’s coaching staff, but has seen little opportunity for playing time behind the rather stable Hyde. The All-Pro safety had missed only two games in his previous four seasons with the Bills, and just one in his four seasons with the Green Bay Packers to start his career.

In the long run, the Bills could go for a supposed trade target — Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith. Bleacher Report’s Brett Sobleski wrote in July that the Vikings might be willing to part ways with the 33-year-old while his value is still high.

“The six-time Pro Bowler remains an excellent player and tone-maker on defense,” Sobleski wrote. “First-time general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah can play smart moving the outstanding safety now before his value drops significantly.”

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler interviewed league leaders in July and found that many believed Smith was heading for the final stage of his glittering career.

“Obviously he’s getting older, but his intelligence overcomes a lot of that,” a defensive coach told Folwer.

Smith probably wouldn’t come cheap — and the 1-1 Vikings are still at the heart of a competitive NFC North — but the Bills might be more willing to part ways with high draft picks if it kept them on a Super Bowl trail. .

Bills calls replacements against the Miami Dolphins

While any trade would likely be a while away, the Bills are making immediate plans for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins to deal with their injury streak. While Hyde is down for the season, fellow All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer is also questionable for the game with a foot injury. Safety Damar Hamlin is ready to slip in his place if Poyer is unable to play.

The Bills also face the loss of cornerback Dane Jackson, who, like Hyde, was taken to hospital with a neck injury in Monday’s game. As ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg noted, the Bills are looking to a pair of young players to fill the hole.

“The secondary will suffer with Jackson also out,” Getzenberg wrote. Cornerback Kaiir Elam, a first-round pick this year, is set to make his first NFL start alongside fellow rookie Christian Benford. The pair rotated to the cornerback position opposite Jackson.

The Cleveland Browns sent a message to AFC North by manipulating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, but the victory came at a cost.

Linebacker and defensive captain Anthony Walker Jr. was lost for the season after suffering a torn quad tendon and team doctors took him off the field. The status of sophomore standout Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah remains up in the air, as he was scheduled for an MRI Friday to determine the extent of a groin injury.

The silver lining is that the Browns don’t return to the field until October, with 10 days off between games after a short week. Cleveland will have to spend some of that time combing through the free agent market for answers on how to fill out the position pool as starting linebackers drop right and left.

One of the smoothest and most logical solutions would involve Cleveland pursuing a familiar face in ex-Browns LB Joe Schobert.

Schobert was consistent and productive for the Browns for over 4 years

Free Agency Joe Schobert Packers

GettyLinebacker Joe Schobert, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, leaves the field with the ball after his second interception of the game against the Miami Dolphins at FirstEnergy Stadium on November 24, 2019 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland selected Schobert in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He produced moderate production his rookie season, starting in four games but appearing in all 16. But by his second year, the linebacker had already made his mark in the NFL .

Schobert, now 28, became a full-time starter and led the league in tackles with 144 this season, earning his only trip to the Pro Bowl. Over a three-year span from 2017 to 2019, Schobert started 45 games for the Browns, missing just three through injury.

The linebacker left Cleveland the following season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where its regular production continued. Schobert played last season with the Steelers and joined the Denver Broncos for a brief stint in August before being released. He is currently a free agent.

If the Browns decide to go after Schobert, they might be better served to do so sooner rather than later, as he practiced for the New York Giants earlier this week. For his career, Schobert has amassed 661 tackles, including 23 tackles for loss, 30 passes defended, 26 quarterback hits, 11 sacks, 10 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown, per Professional Football Reference.

Browns have free agent options at Linebacker outside of Schobert

Blake Martinez, Giants

If Cleveland proves unable to bring Schobert back into the fold, there are a handful of other viable options also available in free agency. Chief among them may be former Giants defensive captain Blake Martinez.

Martinez, 28, was a very durable starter for the first five years of his career, including the first four as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Between 2017 and 2020, the linebacker has started 64 of a possible 64 games. In 2021, he was named team captain in New York before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3.

The Giants brought Martinez back in 2022, naming him as a member of the initial 53-man roster before releasing him Sept. 1 in a move that saved the team about $6 million in salary cap space.

Martinez, like Schobert, actively visits NFL teams. His most recent tryout came with the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday.

linebackers Anthony Hitchens and Jarrad Davis also remained free agents through Friday, September 23.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears star linebacker Roquan Smith missed his second straight practice Thursday with a hip injury, leaving his status for this week’s game in question.

The Bears are scheduled to host former coach Lovie Smith and the Houston Texans on Sunday. Smith has played every snap this season.

Defensive coordinator Alan Williams said before practice that he expected him to be ready to play “as far as I know”.

Smith, who does not have an agent, missed preseason after opting to “hold on” with stalled contract extension talks. The 2018 first draft pick was released with a trade request while accusing new general manager Ryan Poles of dealing in bad faith by making take-it-or-leave-it offers that he says would have been bad for the market. linebackers. The stalemate ended with no new agreement, and Smith attended his training camp workout on August 20.

The Bears opened with a surprising and rainy win over San Francisco at Soldier Field in coach Matt Eberflus’ debut. They lost last week to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Jurassic Park, Mario’s Voice and Bowling: Is There Anything Kris Prat Can’t Do?

In America, bowling is a serious televised sport with commentators and rules and all that. Sadly, in Britain, it’s just one thing you could do if you’ve just come out of the cinema but feel like it’s too early to call it a night, and you too feel like of hot wings in the microwave. They say our two nations are separated by a common language, but I’ve often felt that people who say that have overlooked the thousands of miles of ocean and differing attitudes towards leisure activities. intermediate level.

Sad Bond would love to go bowling but never reached the height requirement.

It’s for this reason and many more (budget, respect for topic) that VG247 hired a top cultural (and Marxist) commentator (me) to provide them with five extremely thoughtful reasons why PBA Pro Bowling 2023 is the best game ever. You should watch the video I provided, at your own risk (because I’m a small woodland animal and therefore have to cross several roads to get to the nearest highway services with free wifi).

PBA Pro Bowling 2023 is a video game available on platforms. We’re honestly surprised it exists in a world with Nintendo Switch Sports Bowling – a proper remaster of the original Wii version which we frankly assumed made bowling games obsolete.

Fortunately, we were wrong.

PBA Pro Bowling 2023 is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

It’s a night race as the NASCAR 2022 Cup Series playoffs continue this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Saturday night’s race will be televised via USA Network. Fans can also watch NASCAR races for free by signing up for a DirecTV free trial.

The last time the NASCAR Cup Series passed through Bristol it was a different track as the drivers battled their way through a dirt course. Now it’s the familiar surface in Bristol as the playoffs begin to wind down. The pressure will be on drivers like Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Chase Briscoe this weekend as they fight to stay in the hunt as the playoffs are expected to be reduced to just 16 drivers.

How to Watch the Bass Pro Shops Night Race (2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs)

What time does the race start? What TV channel will it be broadcast on? – Saturday night’s race begins at 7:30 p.m. EST from Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. The race will be televised via USA Network.

I like the feed information: American Network | Peacock bounty | fuboTV | Direc TV – Cable viewers can watch live via American Network using their TV provider’s login credentials. Fans without cable can also stream the coverage via streaming services such as Direc TV and fuboTVthat offer free trials.

The race is also available to stream via Peacock bounty.

Kevin Harvick ended a long losing streak with back-to-back wins that propelled him into the heart of NASCAR’s championship hunt.

Harvick is now on the verge of being eliminated just after the start of the playoffs. The 16-driver playoff field will be reduced by four on Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway and Harvick will enter the race last among the contenders.

He’s had a terrible time the last three races, starting with a crash in the regular season finale at Daytona. Harvick’s car then caught fire in the playoff opener at Darlington and he crashed at Kansas for the first three consecutive DNFs in Harvick’s more than two-decade career.

Harvick pretty much needs a win on Saturday night to avoid elimination. Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Chase Briscoe are also below the cut line towards Bristol. Harvick and Briscoe both drive Fords for Stewart-Haas Racing.

Harvick said the No. 4 team can run hard because “we have nothing to lose.”

NASCAR’s new Next Gen car raced in Bristol in the spring, but that was when the concrete surface was covered in dirt. Busch earned his only Cup Series victory of the year, a victory he inherited from third place when leaders Tyler Reddick and Briscoe crashed out in the race for the checkered flag.

Now the Tennessee track will be its 0.533 mile arena covered in concrete and a completely different experience than going on a dirt road.

“We realized there are a number of unknowns that come with the car and things that you don’t think about unless you’re racing,” Harvick said of the fit teams throughout the season with the NextGen. no rhyme or reason to the things that happened this year. You just need to be very open-minded to adjust and adapt quickly to whatever is happening.

Briscoe said he did two sessions on the simulator to try to prepare for the conditions.

“I think this will probably be the most chaotic race you’ve seen at Bristol in a long time,” Briscoe said. “Cars are going to get out of control. I think they’re going to be extremely fast – faster than we’ve raced there in a long time.

The first two playoff races this year were won by Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace, who are not part of the playoffs. A win by a driver in the playoffs is worth an automatic spot for the next round, so Christopher Bell, on a points basis, is the only driver who has already advanced.

Wallace’s win at Kansas last week was the 18th different Cup Series winner this season, one shy of the all-time record set in 1956, 1958, 1961 and 2001.

DILLON RAMPERS UP

Austin Dillon heads to Bristol aiming to continue a hot summer streak that has elevated his status in the industry.

Dillon won the regular season finale to steal the final playoff spot and place both Richard Childress Racing cars in the 16-driver field. Behind the scenes, he was pushing his grandfather to bring Kyle Busch into the organization.

Tyler Reddick stunned RCR in July when he announced he would move to 23XI Racing in 2024. His first notice gave team owner Childress a full year to find a replacement, and his 32-year-old grandson suggested he try to get Busch.

RCR announced this week that they have signed the two-time champion away from Joe Gibbs Racing for 2023 and Busch will be driving Reddick’s #8 Chevy with Reddick’s crew chief. The signing electrified RCR, a legendary organization that last won a Cup title in 1994 with the late Dale Earnhardt.

Before he could put Busch ahead of Childress, Dillon had to address the 2011 fight between car owner and driver in the Truck Series garage at Kansas Speedway. Childress sadly said “Hold my watch” as he took off his watch before a physical altercation with Busch that resulted in Childress being fined $150,000 from NASCAR.

“I spoke to him about it and he was open. I think he was more like, ‘Do you think he would like to come?’ because of the past,” Dillon recalled. “I was like, ‘Kyle is a man, just like you. Forgive and forget and move on.

The conversation was the same the first time Dillon approached Busch.

“He was kind of in the same boat as ‘RC wants me?’,” Dillon said. “I was like, ‘Yeah, man, why wouldn’t he? Double champion. Big winner in this sport.’ I just told him we wanted it and that’s where it all started.

Bringing the two parties together is a huge business move for Dillon, who has always had to overcome the “silver spoon” reputation that comes with his grandfather’s ride. He said he always appreciated that Busch once offered him a job — the only person other than his grandfather to do so.

COMFORTABLE ARCHER

There were a lot of rumors surrounding Kyle Busch’s future and the longer he was out of contract for 2023, the stronger some of the storylines.

Alex Bowman was often part of the conversation and was mentioned as a driver who could lose his job at Hendrick Motorsports if the team decided to keep Busch. Hendrick developed Busch before releasing him in late 2007 to sign Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Bowman said it was impossible to ignore the speculation because “unfortunately I have a Twitter account”.

“That’s just part of the rumor mill and it’s Kyle Busch and he’s arguably one of the greats, a super talented race car driver, who wouldn’t want him?” says Bowman.

Bowman, who is also looking for a new team manager for next season because Grev Ives is leaving the road, said he was never worried about Busch rumors as he was comfortable with his position at Hendrick. He is in his second full season as sponsor Ally’s handpicked replacement for Jimmie Johnson in number 48.

Even though Bowman has just one win this season, he heads to Bristol sixth in the standings and in a strong position to advance to the second round.

TIPS

Denny Hamlin is the favorite to win Bristol, per FanDuel sports betting.… Kyle Larson is the defending winner of the race. He beat Kevin Harvick by 0.227 seconds last season. … Kyle Busch leads all active NASCAR Cup Series drivers in wins at Bristol with nine, including his spring dirt win. NASCAR Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip holds the record with 12 wins, including eight straight.
