Huawei is conducting a HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta on smartphones and the company has changed the software’s tray icons. Although the swap was minor, it says a lot about Huawei’s intention to make the OS perfect, as it now looks deeper roots and removes all weak angles.

As for the status bar shuffle, Huawei changed the position of some icons from left to right in HarmonyOS 3.0. For example, the WiFi icons are now moved to the right, while the clock has been moved to the left along with the notification icon. Some icons have also been removed from the status bar and should no longer display.

Comparing these changes to HarmonyOS 2.0.

HarmonyOS 2.0 has WiFi and notification icons on the left while keeping the rest of the icons on the right. As you can see, the clock was on the right side of the status bar.

Changes in position could be linked to consumer reactions. However, this is not a final image of the software. As it will be continuously improved on the road to start public beta testing for more Huawei smartphone users.

Subsequent feedback will further shape HarmonyOS 3.0 for the final release.

A week ago, Huawei began recording the HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta for public Huawei smartphone users. This allows phone owners to enter the beta program stage and download the latest HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta firmware.

According to the information, Huawei is still registering smartphone owners in China for HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta testing until July 15. Thereafter, the company will continue to evaluate and send betas for registered Huawei devices under the beta testing phase.

Currently, the Huawei HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta has started testing on the following models: P50, P50 Pro, P50 Pocket, Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro 4G, Mate 40 Pro+, Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. Huawei tablet: MatePad Pro 12.6 inch 2021 model.

A new WhatsApp update is in the works and could greatly improve the presence of your status updates on the popular messaging app by adding rich link previews to any link you post in your status bar.

A report of WABetaInfo shows that WhatsApp is working on what looks like a pretty big update when it comes to your profile status bar. The feature, which has yet to roll out to WhatsApp beta testers, is set to improve the appearance of links posted to your status bar on Android, iOS, and the desktop app.

WhatsApp recently hit the gas with updates and released several long-awaited features not too long ago. However, nobody said that the work on the new features should now stop, given that we finally have reactions to the messages in WhatsApp. SamMobile Reports that a useful new feature is also in the works, discovered recently.

WhatsApp is working on getting rich links in your status on Android, iOS and desktop

our beloved WABetaInfo, which uncovers many features that the Meta-powered company is preparing for us, has now released a useful improvement to WhatsApp’s status bar. The feature is still under development, so it is not yet officially released for WhatsApp users. However, it can be very useful: it would allow you to post rich links in your WhatsApp status bar.

Currently, the status bar only displays the normal link if you decide to include the link to your website, for example, in your status bar on iOS. When this change becomes official, the link will be able to be previewed in the app itself, and with that, you know, attract more people to click on it (and provide information to people looking at it anyway).

This screenshot shows what the new feature will look like on WhatsApp for iOS. On the other hand, Android users have been able to enjoy link previews in their WhatsApp status bar for a while, but the new feature will make it even better.

Keep in mind that the feature we are talking about here is still only under development, so it has not yet been released for beta testers. You might know this, but in case you’re curious, here’s how these things usually progress. First, a new feature is offered to beta testers for finding (and hopefully fixing) annoying bugs or unexpected behavior before it’s pushed out to normal users. And then, after a few months of testing, it is made available to regular users.

So far, we have no information on when this feature will be officially released in an update, but it should arrive in a future update.

Here are some other recent updates that make WhatsApp even better

As we have already mentioned above, WhatsApp has bet on updates, enriching the chat experience for its users. Let’s take a quick recap of the most exciting features the company has rolled out and is working on for the popular instant messaging app.

Recently, WhatsApp has rolled out a big update that has brought its 2 billion users greater file sharing, bigger groups, and much-needed emoji reactions to messages. Now, with this new update, you can share up to 2 GB of files (protected by end-to-end encryption). This, in fact, is a massive change – you know, before this, attachments were limited to 100MB!

And for WhatsApp groups, the number of possible participants has been doubled with this recent update. Previously, groups were limited to 256 people, and now 512 people can join a WhatsApp group.

As for upcoming features, we recently reported on a chat filter feature that WhatsApp is currently testing for non-work accounts. This feature is available for business accounts now and allows you to customize the chats displayed according to your preferences. And with a future update, even non-business WhatsApp accounts (i.e. regular users) will get the customization option.

Keep in mind that the chat filter option currently has the same status as the status bar’s rich link preview option, which means the exact date of posting is unknown at this time. . However, once we know more, we’ll be sure to share it with you, so stay tuned!

Google has restored the status bar vibrate mode icon to Android 12 QPR3 Beta with a new settings menu toggle.

In all previous versions of Android, you’ll get vibrate or silent status bar icons to help you quickly decipher whether your phone will ring, vibrate, or make no noise.

Although this beta offers very few features, it adds stability that was somewhat lacking in the Android 12 stable update path. Strangely, the previous QPR Beta update removed the toolbar icon state of vibrate mode, which meant a feature mismatch between Android 12 and Android 13 for this “average” beta.

However, as spotted a few days ago on the /r/GooglePixel subreddit With the recent Android 12 QPR3 beta update, the vibrate mode tray icon has returned. You might not notice it right away, as it now has a dedicated toggle in the Sound and vibration section in Settings. There’s a new “Always show icon in vibrate mode” toggle that you can turn on or off based on your own preferences.

At least the toggle seemed to be off as standard on a few of the 9to5Google test devices, which means you’ll need to manually enable it to get the glorious status bar icon back on your device.

It’s unclear if this was intentional or just an oversight, but the existence of the toggle could hint that it’s coming in a future Pixel Feature Drop update. Alternatively, the vibrate mode status bar icon toggle could arrive in a future Android 13 beta before it arrives in stable form.

We are still discovering some of the features of Android 12 QPR3 beta 3, which started rolling out to Pixels late last week. Thanks to an eagle-eyed user on Reddit, we now find out about the inclusion of a vibrate mode icon at the top of the status bar. This is a relatively minor feature, but nonetheless important, given that it disappeared from Android a few years ago.

Reddit user u/schrombear_23 spotted the new addition on Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3. “But strangely the icon is not showing on the lock screen (hopefully just a bug),” the user added (via Phone Arena). This reveal indicates that the upcoming June quarterly pixel feature drop will contain the new status bar icon. Google will begin rolling out the Feature Drop on June 6.

In addition to the status bar icon, the update also includes a “Always show icon in vibrate mode” switch under Sound and vibration. One of the easiest ways to enable/disable vibrate mode on Pixel devices is to press one of the two volume buttons and tap the vibrate icon in the pop-up window. This slider also allows users to control call and media volume levels.

Vibrate mode settings Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3

Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3 also brings small changes to the Battery widget

Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3 would also bring some visual changes to the battery widget. While the widget lives under the Parameter services category, it now exists in a category simply called Batterythus facilitating its discovery.

The new status bar icon for vibrate mode finally means that users won’t have to press the volume buttons to find out if their phone is on vibrate mode. On the other hand, people who like their status bar uncluttered would find this new inclusion somewhat boring. Luckily, its visibility can be toggled via the Sound and vibration page under Settings.

The new update is available live for users participating in the Android 12 QPR3 beta program. All Pixel devices from the Pixel 4 and beyond are compatible with Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3. Google is also rolling out Android 13 betas to eligible devices. Considering the unstable nature of these builds, we recommend not trying it on your primary smartphone.

Check how to hide status bar notification icons in Android

Having notification icons in the status bar is one of the great things about Android. It’s not something iOS offers, and it’s a really cool feature. You can always check the status bar to see if you have any unread notifications and see which apps at the same time. Why would you give that up, would you? Well, in case you want to for some reason, in this article, we will show you how to hide notification icons from the status bar.

We’ll use standard Android to show you how. In this particular case, we are using Android 11 running on the Google Pixel 4a phone. Below is the whole procedure accompanied by screenshots, so you can do it step by step as you follow it. So basically, let’s get started.

How to Hide Status Bar Notification Icons on Android

How to Dismiss Android Notifications

  • The easiest way to get rid of notifications (and status bar icons) is:
  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification drawer.
  • Check your notifications to make sure you’re not getting rid of anything important.
  • Once you’ve reviewed your notifications, swipe the notification left or right to dismiss it, or tap Clear All.

How to Disable Persistent Notifications from Android

  • Sometimes an icon in the status bar alerts you that an application is running. Sometimes you will have notifications that cannot be removed from the screen. There are several reasons why this can happen.
  • If the notification shows the status of a running app, closing the app should work. Similarly, an application that was running previously may have started a background service that is still running. There should be something in the notification to stop the service.
  • Some apps post notifications that you can’t ignore. In this case, the notification won’t disappear when you swipe, but it will show a gear icon that will take you to that app’s notification settings. Disable Show notifications, but keep in mind that this disables all app notifications, so make sure you don’t miss anything important while doing so.

How to Disable Android App Notifications

  • Go to settings.
  • Tap Notifications > App settings.
  • Find the app with the notifications you want to turn off and tap the switch to turn off notifications.
  • Tap the app to see more options. From here, you can disable certain types of app-specific notifications.
  • Return to the notification settings screen to see more general options for notifications.

We came across an app that lets you hide your status bar icons, even on Pixel smartphones. This option isn’t available on Google’s Pixel smartphones at all… and no, you don’t need root to run this app. The app is called ‘Tray Icon Mask‘.

You can now hide your status bar icon with this app

On Android, there are usually quite a few icons present in the status bar, depending on your settings, how many notifications you have, etc. On Google’s Pixel smartphones, you can’t disable these icons at all, except those for notifications. Some third-party Android skins offer this possibility, however.

Thanks to this application, this is now possible even on Pixel phones and other phones that do not offer this feature. This app actually acts as a shortcut that activates the System UI Tuner menu. This menu is completely hidden on Android at the moment.

So once you install and open it, you will immediately be thrown into the system UI tuner. You’ll see four menus there, including Status Bar, Do Not Disturb, Ambient Display, and Plugins. We’ll only focus on the first one, because it’s the only one that seems to work very well, and the only one we’re interested in.

There are a ton of toggles available, so you can make your status bar as simple as you want.

When you tap on it, you’ll see a bunch of options there, including auto-rotate screen headset, work profile, screen casting, hotspot, Bluetooth, and more. There is a toggle next to each of these options.

So, for example, if you turn off the “Bluetooth” toggle, you will no longer see the Bluetooth icon in your status bar. This goes for all other options. Personally, I disabled everything that was present in the status bar, except for the clock.

I would have turned off the clock as well, but when I do, the notification icons don’t show up in its place, but next to it, even though it’s invisible. So it ends up looking pretty weird so I wouldn’t recommend it. This is because the clock is on the left side of the status bar.

All other options, however, I managed to disable with no problem, and the status bar looks immensely clean now. I tested the app on the Pixel 4a running a stable version of Android 12, and it worked great. If you want to try, it’s free and you can get it from the link below.

Although many users don’t even notice the status bar, it provides quick access to various useful Excel features. It gives users one-click access to frequently used calculations, multiple spreadsheet views, macro recorder, and more.

Messaging Architects, an eMazzanti Technologies company and Microsoft 365 specialist, shares tips for using Excel’s status bar to increase spreadsheet productivity. The informative article first explains how the status bar provides quick access to various useful Excel features, such as the macro recorder.

The author then looks at how to customize the status bar by selecting what information to display from several options. It concludes by explaining how to copy and paste from the status bar and how to automate repetitive tasks with the macro recorder.

“Although many users don’t even notice the status bar, it provides quick access to a variety of useful Excel features,” said Greg Smith, vice president of service delivery at Messaging Architects. “It gives users one-click access to frequently used calculations, multiple spreadsheet views, macro recorder and more.”

Here are some excerpts from the article, “Excel Status Bar Tips to Increase Spreadsheet Productivity.”

How to Customize Excel Status Bar

“Users can change the options that appear by right-clicking anywhere on the status bar. A list of options appears, with checkmarks next to active options. Click any option to display it in the status bar, or click a checked option to remove it from the status bar.

Copy and Paste from Excel Status Bar

“Previous versions of Excel showed quick facts about highlighted cells, including sum and average. Now Excel takes it a step further by allowing users to copy a value from the status bar and the insert to the desired location in the workbook. For example, users can quickly calculate and display the average value of multiple cells without typing the formula.”

Automate repetitive tasks with macros

“One of the nifty features of Excel that many users overlook is creating macros that allow users to perform repeated tasks with a simple shortcut key. For example, a macro can be used to format data, apply calculations to cells or perform a combination of tasks in sequence.

“Although the macros use VBA code, they do not require any coding from the user. The user simply clicks the Macro Recording button on the left side of the status bar, then assigns a name and key shortcut to the macro. Excel records every move the user makes until they click the Stop Recording button on the status bar.

I can’t lie… I really like Chrome OS; simplicity, speed, the minimalist office. Having an operating system that always “works” can be a real treat, especially when you’re incredibly busy and on the go.

So whenever I can tweak Chrome OS to be even more efficient, I’m all for it.

Since my calendar lives and dies by Google Calendar, when I discovered a handy little hack that makes it easier to access your full calendar from the Chrome OS status bar, I knew it was a feature that I would like to have.

I wasn’t wrong.

With this addition to Chrome OS, you can click the date in your Chrome OS status bar to reveal a full calendar with clickable dates to reveal any entry you’ve listed. For anyone who relies on both Chrome OS and Google Calendar, this will be a must-have.

Let me show you how to enable it.

Also: Do you have an old laptop or computer? Give it new life with Chrome OS Flex

I will demonstrate with Chrome OS 102.0.5005.6 (developer version).

Are you ready to boost your Chrome OS Calendar experience? Of course you are. Here’s how.

Enabling Monthly Calendar View

Open Chrome on your Chromebook and enter the following in the address bar:

In the resulting screen, type calendar in the search bar and hit enter on your keyboard. In the resulting window (Figure 1), click the drop-down menu and select Enabled.

Figure 1

chromecal1.jpg

The Chrome OS flags window is where you can get really granular configurations.

When prompted (Figure 2), click Restart.

Figure 2

chromecal2.jpg

Once enabled, you must restart your Chromebook for the changes to take effect.

After your Chromebook restarts, log back in and click the date in the system tray (lower right corner of the screen). This will open the calendar preview (picture 3).

picture 3

chromecal3.jpg

The newly enabled calendar overview in Chrome OS.

Click on any date that displays a blue dot to reveal all of your events for that date (Figure 4).

Figure 4

chromecal4.jpg

Clicking on a date reveals all events associated with that day.

If you click on one of these events, it will open Google Calendar in a tab or in its own window (depending on whether or not you have Google Calendar to open in its own application window).

And that, my friends, is how you make working with Google Calendar even more efficient on Chrome OS. Obviously, you can’t add or edit entries to your calendar from this feature, but if you constantly need to refer to Google Calendar on your Chromebook, this is the way to go.

Microsoft Excel’s status bar lets you quickly see the average, sum, or count of selected cells. But what’s better than seeing these values is being able to use them. Here’s how to copy directly from the status bar.

To note: As of this writing in April 2022, the ability to copy values from the status bar is slowly deployment to Excel on Windows users starting with Office Insiders. So if you don’t see the feature yet, you should soon.

Choose your status bar calculations

Since you can customize which items appear in Excel’s status bar, you’ll need to confirm that the ones you want to display and copy are selected.

RELATED: How to Customize and Use Status Bar in Excel

Right-click on the status bar in Excel to see available items. Those that are checked are those visible in the status bar. So if you want to see the average, for example, be sure to select it to put that checkmark next to it.

Calculations selected in the status bar

Select cells to display calculations

Calculations like average, sum, minimum, maximum, and others only appear in the status bar when they apply. This means that you will need to select the cells in your sheet to display these calculations.

RELATED: How to Calculate the Average in Microsoft Excel

Select a range of cells and when you look at the status bar you will see the values of the calculations you have selected.

Status bar calculations

Copy values from status bar

Once you have selected the cells and seen the calculations at the bottom, just click on the desired value in the status bar. This puts it in your clipboard. You can then paste it directly into your sheet or another application.

RELATED: How to Paste Text Without Formatting Almost Anywhere

To paste it into your spreadsheet, select the cell where you want the value, then do one of the following:

  • Right-click and choose “Paste”.
  • Go to the Home tab and click “Paste” in the Clipboard section of the ribbon.
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.

Paste a value from the status bar

Sometimes small updates to the apps we use daily like Microsoft Excel are the best. This handy feature makes adding calculations to your spreadsheets easier than ever.
