Bring back the notification ticker with the awesome status bar

It seems like direct notifications have been with us forever, even though they were introduced with Android 5.0 Lollipop since 2014. Prior to that, however, we had something called a “notification ticker” which preview incoming notifications in the bar. state when they arrived. Although this feature has long been forgotten, many have tried to bring it back using third-party apps. We previously detailed a workaround using the Tasker Automation app, but if you want a slightly easier solution to configure, check out an app called “Super Status Bar.”

For the most part, Super Status Bar serves as a status bar replacement that overlays your existing status bar. This means that it doesn’t require root access to function as it doesn’t actually replace your existing status bar. Even so, it allows for a lot of UI and behavior customization, so there’s a lot you can do with the app besides just activating a notification ticker. This includes activating a double tap gesture to sleep, quickly changing the brightness and volume levels by swiping along the status bar, the style of your status bar icons, the display a battery bar, and much more. There is a premium version of the app which costs $ 1.99 and unlocks all gesture actions, styles, and lets you customize the indicator, ticker notification, battery bar, and colors.

The super status bar can also hide warning notifications if you grant the app WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission through ADB. We tested it on our OPPO Find X2 Pro running ColorOS 7.1 based on Android 10, and surprisingly the app performed well despite the many customizations OPPO made to Android.

If you want to check out the Super Status Bar, you can download it right now from the Google Play Store link. Also check out the developer’s discussion thread on XDA if you want to leave direct feedback!
